How to find an event buddy safely
An event companion should make a plan feel more comfortable, never less. These habits keep the decision in your hands.
Start with a complete conversation
Look for a profile that gives you enough context to make a decision. Chat in the app first and ask directly about the event, arrival time, and what they are looking forward to. Do not rush into sharing your home address, private documents, money, or passwords.
Use public places
For a first meeting, choose the venue entrance, a known café, or another busy public space. Arrange your own transport and keep a trusted friend informed of your plan. It is okay to change your mind or leave at any point.
Verification is one signal—not a guarantee
Bludland currently offers phone verification. It can help show that an account completed that step, but no badge can guarantee a person’s behaviour or identity in every situation. Use your judgment, trust your instincts, and avoid pressure.
Report concerns
If someone is abusive, impersonating another person, asking for money, or making you uncomfortable, stop engaging and use the in-app report option. Include useful context so the safety team can review it.
